About Me

Gaynor was born in the previous century as a mass of atoms. Born with a golden reed in her mouth, she grabbed the nearest horn and hasn’t stopped playing since. She has amassed several instruments along the way, including the whole saxophone family, clarinets, guitars, ukuleles, percussion and a family of woodchucks which live under the toilet cistern in the outhouse.

She has played solo, in duos (Le Divas), trios, quartets (the John Riley Quartet), quintets (Jazz Traders) right up to big bands (Little Big Horns and Swingside). Genres range from jazz, indie, grunge, country, pop to German polka. She has survived a number of attacks from emus, llamas, wombats and kangaroos. Subsequently she prefers now to stay indoors and play with the band Weekend in Vegas, where you can see her bring her style of saxophonic industrial grime to the melodies of the soundtrack of her life.

“Gaynor taught our eldest daughter over approximately 6 years progressing from the *Clarineo (*child-size clarinet pitched in C) to the full size Bb Clarinet to 1st and 2nd Grade AMEB level. Her dedication to the learning of her students is second to none. I would not hesitate for a second in recommending Gaynor for Clarinet music lessons”.

Weekend in Vegas

Weekend in Vegas first exploded onto the local scene in late 2023 with their firebrand covers of everything from the Blues Brothers, Foo Fighters, Amy Winehouse, and Lenny Kravitz to their showstopping version of Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing in the Name Of”.

With Gus Melo leading the way on vocals and lead / rhythm guitar, Marco Volpato on bass, Mark Vidal on drums, Tom Portas as lead guitarist and Gaynor Renz on tenor, baritone and soprano sax, this band has refined their sound to the point where they now include several original songs in their very popular set lists.

For those who love industrial rock, pop and a mosh pit, their shows are not to be missed. Catch them in action at Unit 3 Collective, Lonsdale. Find their gigs here.
